Power of Attorney - John Brosnaham to his father, Andrew

On 3 September 1814, John Brosnaham signed a document giving his father, Andrew, power of attorney while he was aboard the privateer General Armstrong. The document was signed in New York where he probably boarded the General Armstrong. The crew saw action on September 26th at Fayal in the Azores when the General Armstrong, loading water and supplies in a neutral port, was attacked by three British ships.

This transcription of the document was taken from the records in the Bible of Dr. G.O. Brosnaham and a copy was sent to me by Cynthia Brosnahan Richardson.
