Part of a letter written by Captain Samuel C. Reid





End of a letter written 4 October 1814 by Samuel C. Reid, Captain of the privateer General Armstrong which had just been attacked and burned by the British in the port of Fayal (Faial) in the Azores during the War of 1812. In it he notes the worthy ship's surgeon who would have been Dr. John Brosnahan. This letter is included with various Congressional documents regarding the General Armstrong.
