James Albert Whitted, son of Thomas Austin Whitted and Julia Phillips, died August 19, 1923, in a plane crash near Fort Walton Beach, Florida - called Camp Walton at the time. He was buried in St. Michael's Cemetery in Pensacola, Florida. The upright gravestone reads "JAS. ALBERT WHITTED, BORN ST. PETERSBURG FLA, FEB. 14 1893, DIED PENSACOLA FLA, AUG. 19 1923.
