Clementina Brent, 1836-1883
Emily Brent, 1838-1890
Julia Brent, 1862-1885

Forest Glen, Maryland

Clementina Douglas Brent and Emily Catherine Brent were sisters, daughters of Col. William Brent and his second wife, Elizabeth Neale. Julia was their niece, the daughter of their older brother Francis Neale Brent. Francis and his wife, Anna Magill, both died fairly young, Francis in 1874 when he was about 43, and Anna in 1862 when she was only about 23. So Julia really never knew her mother who died when she was a baby; her father died when she was about 12. In the 1880 census she is living with her two aunts, Clementina and Emily. The three of them were obviously very close as the inscription on their tombstone reads "Even in death they were not divided." They were all born in Washington D.C. Julia died there, of tuberculosis, and the others probably died in Washington also.

They are buried with many other Brents in St. John the Evangelist cemetery on land that had been the property of one of their ancestors, Eleanor Darnell Carroll, mother of Archbishop John Carroll.
