Postcard from New Orleans, 1906

Rufus S. Manley, Robert I Brent, William Louis Brent and Daniel Gonzalez Brent, New Orleans, 1906

Photo postcard written by Mr. Wm., William Louis "Tuff" Brent, to his father, F.C. Brent, and mailed from New Orleans April 27, 1906. William, his brother, Robert, his uncle, Danny Brent, and his brother-in-law, Rufus, had gone to New Orleans to a parade. This was after Mardi Gras so it was not for the Mardi Gras parade.

"Dear Papa,
We had this taken at Athletic Park Thursday night. Met Ellie S. out there. We all marched in the parade today. It must have been six miles long and, I think, the prettiest we have seen. Are having a fine time.
Mr. Wm.

Ellie S. was probably Ellie Shuttleworth, daughter of David Dobbs Shuttleworth, his mother's brother, and his wife Laura Hyer Bell. Ellie was his cousin. Copy of photograph belonging to William's daughter, Tommie Brent, May 2007.
