Will of William Seymour, 1717, Bermuda

William Seymour, of Sandys, Bermuda, son of Florentius Seymour and Ruth Paynter, wrote his will on 14 December 1717. He died in 1718 and probate was 8 July 1718. In the will he mentions his wife Rachel and his children: William, James, Joseph, Daniel, John, Martha, Elizabeth, Ruth and Rhoda. Rachel was Rachel Paynter, her parents not known, but she would have been part of the Paynter family that William's mother Ruth belonged to. William's son Daniel had a daughter, Susannah, who married Robert Brent of Stafford County, Virginia, in 1702. In 1694 William was appointed captain of the westermost fort in Bermuda - the fort was not named.

The will is from Bermuda wills, Will Book 3, pt. 2, 1701-1707, pp.164-167 and can be found at FamilySearch.org or at the Bermuda Archives in Hamilton, Bermuda.
